MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2014
Read and agreed with one minor amendment to the match date.

MATTERS ARISING
None.

FINANCE OFFICERS REPORT
Phil Curry confirmed that the balance of funds in the account after all expenditure to date stood at £1,775.98. The large increase on last year’s balance was mainly due to the generous bequest left to the club by our sadly missed member and friend George Tumney.  Rick Latham pointed out that in fact our operating profit for 2014 was in fact a little over £50 so we should not be complacent and make sure that our costs are controlled.

It was proposed that the accounts were accepted. This was carried unanimously.

POST MEETING NOTE: A discrepancy has been noted in the year end accounts. The deduction of Xmas wine has been duplicated. Therefore the balance stood at £1,895.98, or an operating year-end profit of £ 222.97.

Thanks to Phil for his work on the accounts which as usual were clear and complete.

SECRETARYS REPORT/RESULTS 2013
Phil talked the meeting through the results sheets for 2014. The Club Champion was again Ray Ravenall who this year won a tight competition on the last day edging out Gerry Rush who was the runner up again. Third place went to Mark Hone who was still in with a shout up to the final match of the season.

Carr’s maintained their excellent form in the interclub Pairs Championship with Graham Nelson and Alan Taylor taking the honours this year.
PRESENTATION OF TROPHY’S
Phil Curry announced that there would be no presentation of trophies this evening as he wanted to carry out an audit of all trophies held by the club as many were still on the missing list. 2014 winners would receive their trophies in due course. For the record the 2014 winners were as follows;-

Towpath Trophy  Ray Ravenall
Memorial trophy  Ray Ravenall
Summer Shield  Allan Prosser

FIXTURES 2015
Ray Ravenall advised that in light of difficulties that some members have attending Saturday matches he has arranged some Sunday bookings this year. There are three matches booked all of which are on the river. He has attempted to focus the bookings on local matches and has introduced some new venues to introduce variety. He was proposing not to finalise the canal venue booking instead he will select the venue the week before based on current form and after taking advice from the WDUAA water allocations officer, Terry Peckham.

There would be a ‘home and away’ match against Plastic Omnium which would not count towards the club champion aggregate. The away lake would again be Thorpe Constantine Park and the home leg would be Alvechurch Fishery.

Peter Thomas has joined Newton Works fishing club with a view to looking at either swapping venues or booking matches on the waters that club owns. His first impressions are good.

Thanks were given to Ray for all of his efforts in putting together the fixture list for this coming year.
BANK CLEARING 2015
Bank Clearing would take place on Sunday 14th June 2015 at Boreley. Everyone is urged to do their best to attend.

PROPOSALS OF MOTION
Mark Hone suggested that as the club had a habit of cancelling river matches with very few of those booked going ahead, a discussion was needed to be had about whether to book them at all. Peter Thomas made the point that he would happily fish river matches if the venue was fishing well enough to justify giving up a day to attend. Gerry Rush suggested that river form was easy to evaluate based on conditions prevailing at the time. It was therefore agreed that river matches would continue to feature in our fixtures.

A discussion then ensued about the numbers required to attend for a match to go ahead. It was proposed Phil Curry and seconded by Gerry Rush that any five members willing to attend a match would constitute a quorum and the match would proceed. Below that number and it would be cancelled or rearranged to an alternate venue. This was carried unanimously.

Gerry Rush proposed and Peter Thomas seconded that the current system of making financial payments to the club aggregate winner and runner up be abolished and the monies put towards running a free match for the members. This was carried unanimously with one abstention.
The Club Secretary to nominate which match to be club sponsored.

Mark Hone suggested that the current system of all matches scoring towards the aggregate total clearly favoured those members who had more time to attend all of the matches and had unfair impact on members who had other commitments. He therefore suggested that either 4 or five matches or worse scores be dropped each year. After discussion it was agreed that two thirds of match results would count towards the aggregate with the worse results being dropped. This year it means that the top 14 results of the 21 points scoring matches would count.

Rick Latham proposed and Mark Hone seconded that there should be a minimum of 4 river matches and two canal matches a year. This was defeated by 4 votes to 3 with one abstention.

A proposal put forward by Mark Hone that at least one river match and one canal match count towards the final aggregate total did not find a seconder.
NOMINATION OF TROPHY MATCHES.
It was agreed that the following matches would be used for this years trophy awards.

It was proposed by Graham Nelson and seconded by Alan Taylor that all existing officers should be re-elected and Jeff Rush not replaced. This was carried unanimously.

SUBSCRIPTIONS 2015
Phil Curry proposed that there would be no increase to this year’s subscriptions. This would mean that the subscriptions, including membership of the WDUAA, would remain as follows:

Concessions  £66.50

Money is to be paid to Phil by the first match of the season.

PAIRS 2015
The matches that qualify for the pair’s competition have been identified and listed on the fixture sheet circulated by Ray Ravenall. Gerry Rush would organise the pairings on the bank on the day as usual.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS.
Our business could not be concluded without a huge vote of thanks once again to Peter Thomas and his wife Jackie for his tremendous support of the club in supplying pre match coffee and bacon/sausage sandwiches. The members really appreciate this extraordinary and generous gesture.

Meeting closed at 10 05 p.m.

Date of next meeting to be confirmed.
